My experience with The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Vitamin C Serum 12% was awesome, it’s as if it picked up the good works from where Timeless 20% vitamin C serum left it. They’re less potent in comparison to L-ascorbic acid but have longer shelf-life as they’re stable to heat and air unlike L-ascorbic acid vitamin C which quickly oxidizes upon exposure to heat and air.

But I had to discontinue it and move straight to a vitamin C derivative - Ascorbyl Glucoside, ( The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Vitamin C Serum 12%) as vitamin C derivatives are known not to be acidic in nature (unlike L-ascorbic acid) which makes them suitable for sensitive skin (and other skin types too).īut here’s a catch. You know that feeling you get when you have no choice but to stop your most-effective skincare product, just because your skin started developing side effects from it, the feeling was terrible. That was when I discovered that it was the 20% Timeless vitamin C serum that has been the culprit all these while. When my skin has fully recovered from inflammation, to play safe, I gradually reintroduced application of my skincare topicals while excluding retinoids and AHAs and concentrated only on Timeless 20% vitamin C and my moisturizer, just to find the culprit behind the burning and itchy sensation I previously experienced.Īfter five (5) days of usage, the same scenario occurred again, my skin started to itch, and burn. After two (2) weeks of dwelling solely on skin moisturizing and hydrating ingredients, the itchiness stopped, my skin was calm and soothed. Then, I had to take a break, and withdrew from all skincare products application and emphasized more on skin hydrating and moisture enriching ingredients to repair my skin barrier because it seems it has been compromised. The burning sensation was obviously felt and very discomforting, irrespective of how hydrating my skincare routine is. I also had to cut the application of the Timeless 20% vitamin C serum from everyday to every-other-day, but STILL, my skin burned. At first I thought I was over-exfoliating, I had to cut down my exfoliating skincare products from twice weekly, to once per week, but the situation kept happening.
My skin loves it, as it glows my skin, giving it that dazzling healthy luminosity, until……….it started to burn. Previously, I’ve been using Timeless vitamin C serum, the 20% version, and all have been going well.
